Patriot Sprint Tour and Fireworks at Eriez Speedway this Sunday
Hammett, PA May 21, 2014: the Patriot Sprint Tour will invade Eriez Speedway this Sunday for their first visit in 2014. All regular divisions will compete in a normal evening of racing action with the evening being capped off with a giant fireworks display from Fireworks by Gibson.
In points races, defending champion Rob Blair is off to an early lead in the Jay’s Auto Wrecking Super Late Models championship quest. Blair won opening night with Mike Knight, the 2012 champion, prevailing last week. In the Bonnell Collision Center FASTRAK Late Models former champion Max Blair leads Bobby Rohrer. Blair has won both outings but Rohrer was extremely strong last week and looks to be on track to get his first-ever Crate Late Model feature win soon. 2013 champion Chad Wright has struggled thus far this season and is back in sixth after two weeks of the season but is expected to ‘hit his stride’ soon.
Joel Watson, a past champion, won last week’s Plyler Overhead Door E-Mods feature and took over the points lead after two weeks with former champion Dave Hess second at this time. Last year’s champion Rich Michael, opening night winner, fell out of competition early last week and fell back to seventh in the season-long standings. Dan Maxim and Ryan Scott lead the Conway & O’Malley Limited Late Models points even though neither has entered Victory Lane this season. Scott is the defending champion.
Chris Withers and Brandon Groters are currently tied for the championship lead in the Waterford Hotel Street Stocks run for the title. Both have a feature win already this season. Stephen Enlow, the winner of the Dan McGarvie Memorial last week, is the Kandy’s Gentleman’s Club Challengers points leader with Jason Brightman second. Week one winner Joe Beach, runs seventh in the standings at this point.
