September Sweep at Eriez Speedway this weekend!

Hammett, PA, September 4, 2013: The long awaited “September Sweep” is this weekend at Eriez Speedway. The end of year extravaganza is a first in the 52 year history of the speedway.
Friday night will see a complete night of racing with heats and features for both the Kandy’s Gentleman’s Club Challengers and the Jay’s Auto Wrecking ULMS Super Late Models. The Challenger Mini-Stocks will race for $1000 to win while the ULMS Super Late Models will have a $3000 winner’s purse. The other classes will run heat races to qualify for their big features held Saturday night.

Fans and competitors purchasing tickets for both nights will be treated to a free breakfast in the main concession stand at the pit end of the grounds to start the day. Saturday will finish off the show with $5000 to win finale for the ULMS Super Late Models.

Point’s champion Robbie Blair is expected to be at or near the front both nights. Former champions Mike Knight, Chris Hackett, and Rich Gardner are all expected to be racing for the win as well. This will be the only appearance for the ULMS at Eriez this season. Mike Knight has a commanding 62-point lead over Boom Briggs. Both are regular competitors at Eriez and both have wins in 2013 at the track. Matt Urban is currently third with Eriez champion Robbie Blair is fourth. Russ King currently I a fifth in the standings. King has not visited Eriez this summer but does have a win here.

The Bonnell Collision FASTRAK Late Models will hold a national event that will pay $5000 to win Saturday night. Newly crowned Eriez Speedway champion Chad Wright will be trying for the National Tour win but will have plenty of competition from locals Max Blair, the 2012 Nation Champion, and Kyle Zimmerman, who was the 2010 champion and the winner of the final week of regular racing at Eriez.

Friday night the UEMS E-Mods will make their second visit to Eriez this summer with qualifying for Saturday night’s $2000 to win event, one of the best paying E-Mod races in the area this season. Steve Dixon, with four wins on the tour and one at Eriez this summer, leads the series points over Randy Hall and Vic Vena, each with one win on the tour. Six-time Plyler Overhead Door E-Mod Eriez winner and 2013 champion Rich Michael has not yet scored a win on the UEMS tour but will be at the head of the list of favorites for the weekend.

The Conway & O’Malley Limited Late Models have been added to the card with Qualifying heats Friday night, then the $1000 to win feature Saturday. Ryan Scott, the 2013 champion and Steve Kania, the 2012 champion are expected to take the battle for the win to the very last lap.

The Eric Walter Street Stocks will be racing for their biggest purse of the season, $2000 to win. The points race went to John Phelps, the opening night winner. 2012 champion Pat McGuire was second and closing the gap when the season ended. With full car counts nearly every week, it is expected there may be more than three heats Friday night, the one, or even two, B-Mains before Saturday’s finale.

Eriez Speedway is located on Sampson Road, just off Lake Pleasant Road in the town of Hammett, PA, 3 miles south of Interstate 90. Take Route 8 South from Interstate 90 Exit 29 and follow the signs starting in Hammett. Admission for this spec ial is $15 for adults on Friday, $25 on Saturday, children 6 and over $6.00. For Saturday Sept 7, children 6 and over $10.00.
